In Loving Memory of Jacqueline Irene Geary

Jacqueline Irene Bennett Geary, age 77, died on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, in Clayton, New Mexico.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Pastor Terrell Jones, pastor of the Trinity Fellowship Church in Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Jacqueline Irene (Bennett) Geary was born the third daughter of John C. And Irene E. Bennett on July 13, 1945, in Rawlins, Wyoming. They resided in Sinclair, Wyoming, and then moved to Clinton, Indiana in 1947. In 1951 the family relocated to Artesia, New Mexico. In 1963, Jacquie graduated from Artesia High School and then attended Eastern New Mexico University where she met and fell in Love with Max Geary. On July 11, 1964, they were married in Artesia, New Mexico. In 1967, they moved back to Clayton to work and raise two sons: Shawn Scott Geary and Brian Heath Geary. In 2002, Jacquie retired from the Clayton School system with a total of 30 years of service. Mixed in she worked for 6 years for the United States Forest Service also. Jacquie was preceded in death by her parents: John C. And Irene E. Bennett, her in-laws: J.C. and Lola Geary, a sister: Janice Bennett, and her brothers-in-law: Ron Johnson and Bill Schroeder. Jacquie was a member of the Local P.E.O. Chapter W and the First Baptist Church in Clayton.

SURVIVORS:

HUSBAND: Max Geary of Clayton, New Mexico.

2 SONS: Shawn Geary and his wife Patti of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Heath Geary and his wife April of Clayton, New Mexico.

GRANDCHILDREN: Jaci Geary of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Molli Barbosa and her husband Daniel of Coweta, Oklahoma, Kassie Geary of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Koy Geary of Portales, New Mexico and Keegan Geary of Clayton, New Mexico.

GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Liam and Lola Barbosa of Coweta, Oklahoma.

SISTER: Judy Schroeder of Sparta, Missouri.

NIECES: Leah Smith and Lanette Horand both of Phoenix, Arizona, Lori Juarez of Bethell, Washington, Julie Wright, and Dina Johnson both of Sparta, Missouri, and Marla Berends of Lincoln, Arkansas.

NEPHEW: Tony Johnson of Haughton, Louisiana.

MEMORIALS: The family asks that memorials be made in Jacquie’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the New Mexico Baptist Children’s Home PO Box 629, Portales, NM 88130 or to the Laurance Daniel Scholarship fund care of the Farmers and Stockman’s bank in Clayton.
