Raton hosted the Texico Wolverines Saturday afternoon April 2, for a doubleheader at Gabriele Field where they split the wins.
Game one was a pitching duel and a slow start for the offenses with Raton breaking through for two runs in the second inning and again in the fifth and a final run in the sixth while holding Texico scoreless to finish off the game with a 5 – 0 shutout. Chance Middlebrook was credited with the win on the mound with Matt Quartieri and then Adrian Romero to finish the game.

Game two was a totally different game with Texico taking the lead 6-1 in the first inning putting Raton back on its heels. Then the pitching and defense took over until the fifth inning when Texico added four more runs and then added another five in the seventh inning for a 16-4 lead.
Raton tried to mount a late comeback rally, led by a sixth inning Matt Quartieri two-run homer over the right field fence to help Raton add three more runs in their at bats. Raton then found their rhythm and jumped on Texico pitching, scoring six in the last inning, but it was too little too late as the game ended with a 16-11 final score.
