Santa Fe Indian School Braves traveled to Raton for a makeup single game on March 31, after losing both of the doubleheader games in Santa Fe two days earlier 8-5 and 15-5.
In Raton, Brave Sophomore Jermey Martinez went the distance for the Braves and tacked on 16 strikeouts leading the Braves to the 8-6 win. It wasn’t an easy outing for Martinez, though as he hit three Raton batters while walking two others. Martinez pitched out of a bases-loaded, one out jam in the third by striking out the next two he faced. Raton stranded nine on base.
Trea Ortega started on the mound for Raton with Dylan Quartieri finishing the game as Coach Tori Giacomo had to watch the number of pitches each pitcher had in order to be available for upcoming games.
Raton base runners managed to steal a total of five bases during the game yet the defense committed seven errors.
