It was a Tiger Fest for the Lady Tigers Thursday evening (February 17) as they hosted the Santa Fe Prep Lady Griffins with both the JV and Varsity teams marking the win column in this unscheduled game.
Due to changes earlier in the year Tiger Fest was to be held this Saturday for both girls and boys with only boys games going on. AD Brock Walton however managed to find a team that would come up and play the girls thus making it a TigerFest game for them Thursday evening.
The JV started off the evening outscoring the Lady Griffins by four and six in the second quarter going into halftime with a 14-4 lead. It was a defensive game with neither team taking a lot of shots nor making very many. Raton outscored Santa Fe Prep in all four quarters to mark the win column 30-13.
The Raton varsity girls got off to a slow start scoring their first two points with under four minutes remaining in the quarter. They ended the first quarter with a 6-0 showing on the scoreboard. It would be part way through the second quarter before Santa Fe would drop in two free throws for the only score in the second quarter.
Third quarter action saw Santa Fe rally and drop in 11. Raton continued their scoring with 12 and 11 in the second half of the game. When the buzzer sounded it was a 43-18 win for Raton.
