Bobby was born on June 20th, 1937 in Clayton, New Mexico to Benson and Maxine(Allen)Adee of Wheeless, Oklahoma. Bobby made an early decision to follow Christ and was a life-long member of the Baptist Church. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1955 and joined the National Guard that same year. He married his high school sweetheart Johnann Heimann on Easter Sunday April 6, 1958. Bobby graduated from New Mexico State University in 1961 with a B.S. Degree in Animal Husbandry. While at NM State, he was a member of several judging teams and enjoyed traveling the country to various competitions. He and Johnann, after graduating from college, moved back to northeast New Mexico where he spent the majority of his life doing what he loved-farming and ranching.
For several years, he was the commander for the New Mexico National Guard Unit in Clayton and was also appointed to serve as the tactical officer for the Officers’ Candidate School (OCS) in Santa Fe. He retired from the National Guard with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Bobby got his pilot’s license in 1958 and was a charter member of the Clayton Civil Air Patrol and a member of the (AOPA) Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He even flew Dowlen to school for three years. Bobby had a strong interest in wildlife preservation and served on the Board of Directors for the New Mexico Wildlife Federation and was elected its president for two terms. He testified multiple times in US Senate hearings about the importance of conserving wildlife, public lands, and watersheds for the future.
Throughout the 1980-90’s he enjoyed driving the “Big Bus” for Clayton Athletic teams and FFA competitions. He meticulously maintained and cleaned the bus, always getting grumpy if the students left any trash behind! He was also a member of the Rosebud and Amistad Rural Fire Departments-certified as both an EMT and Rope Rescue Personnel. Driving big trucks was also a passion he had and he was always happiest behind the wheel of one. After owning and operating Adee Trucking for many years, he transitioned to working for Del Peoples at P-P Trucking in the mid 90’s. He hauled everything from boxes to pigs for them until retiring at the age of 80 years old.
After Johnann passed in 2006, Bobby met and married Martha Crabtree Adee in 2008. For the next 13 years they enjoyed gardening, watching John Wayne movies, and visiting family and friends. He definitely loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—being above all a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donnie Adee, his wife of 48 years Johnann, and an infant daughter Sheryl Ann.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years Martha of Dalhart; son Dowlen Adee of Temple, Texas; daughter Sharon Loden and her husband Mike of Waco, Texas; stepson Tommy McBroom and wife Anne and stepson Brian McBroom of Dalhart, Texas. He is also survived by grandchildren Dana Kirkland and husband Cody of Waco, Texas; Michael Adee and wife Whitney of Hallettsville, Texas; Abby Loden of Savannah, Georgia; Sheryl Ann Loden of Waco, Texas.
