David B. Witkowski was born on April 13, 1939, in Minneapolis, MN, and died on January 31, 2022, while in hospice care at Beehive Homes of Raton, NM.
Dave graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1957, then served in the Marine Corps for six years. While stationed on Okinawa he was deployed in and out of Laos and Cambodia many times at the very beginning of the Vietnam war.
He spent 32 years working for Northern States Power Co., which is now Excel Energy, starting out as a lineman and after taking many college courses retired in 1997 as a Relay Tech. The next year he and his wife moved to Raton.
He married his loving wife Janice Olin in 1969 and she, his brother William and wife Linda, three nieces and one nephew, and their spouses and children survive him. He was predeceased by his parents Adam and Pearl Witkowski and special uncles and aunts, Wally and Mary Weller and Mac and Judy MacGregor.
He enjoyed hunting, shooting, and reading about almost every subject but mostly WWII. He and Jan traveled a great deal, taking in military and air museums and spending time with friends in the sun in many places.
He was a trusted and reliable source of information relating to his hobby and he will be greatly missed by Jan, his family, and many friends.
At his request there will be no service and the burial of his cremains will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
