The St. Mikes Lady Horseman traveled up I-25 for a district game with Raton Friday, February 4 and took a hard fought win home as the Lady Tigers tried to reprise their loss in January in Santa Fe.
The Lady Horseman defense held Raton to only four points in the first quarter. Raton kept up the play, yet continued to struggle to find the basket even into the second quarter garnering only 10 points for the first half of play. The first half of play is where St. Mikes made the game theirs as they scored 29 points and had Raton down by 19.
The second half saw Raton battle back and keep the Lady Horsemen from running away with the game and at one point had come back to within 13 points. Raton held St. Mikes to only 12 points in the third and only seven in the fourth. Yet when the buzzer sounded to end the game St. Mikes had pulled back out to an 18 point deficit for the district win leaving Raton 0-5 in district play.
