Dear Citizens of the Village of Cimarron,

Due to a recent vacancy on the Village Council, we will be accepting letters of interest for a candidate to be appointed to the position. The position term will expire at the next election and will have to be elected.

3-12-1. Vacancy on governing body.  

Any vacancy on the governing body of a mayor-council municipality shall be filled by appointment of a qualified elector by the mayor of the municipality, with the advice and consent of the governing body.  Any qualified elector appointed to fill a vacancy on the governing body shall serve until the next regular local election, at which time a qualified elector shall be elected to fill the remaining unexpired term if any.

An individual is eligible to submit a letter of interest for the position if the individual is a qualified elector, if the individual resides in the town limits of the municipality, and is registered to vote in the Village of Cimarron.

Please provide an Affidavit of Voter Registration along with the letter of interest: The address on the affidavit must be the individual’s place of residence. Certifications of voter registration may be obtained from the Colfax County Clerk. You may call the Colfax County Clerk’s Office at (575) 445-5551 to request your affidavit.

LETTERS OF INTEREST WILL BE RECEIVED UNTIL FEBRUARY 8, 2022 AT 3:00 PM

The position will be recommended for an appointment during the February 9, 2022, Council meeting.
