Eloisa Valdez was born May 9th, 1929 in El Paso, TX to the home of Tomas & Candelaria Medina. Eloisa grew up in El Paso where she met and married Phillip Valdez on February 6, 1946, and they moved to and made Clayton their home. This is where Eloisa’s legacy of love was sewn. Eloisa’s love for others was seen and felt by many. She used her passion to help wherever she was needed. It was never a surprise when she was seen helping with events at St. Francis Xavier or tirelessly helping prepare the Sacred Heart Church at Moses for Mass. She was a member of the local VFW post where she helped with events there also. She continued to serve others as a housekeeper to clients in the area. Eloisa enjoyed the company of her many comadres and evening coffee Amigas. She lovingly held the title of sidekick whenever her and Judy Steen would go on various adventures together. Her many family and friends indeed allowed her to go on many different adventures, as they are spread across different states. If there was an award for most knowledgeable and probably most patient navigator, Eloisa would have earned it a few times. Not surprisingly, Eloisa continued her legacy of love on her travels and made friends in different cities while she was visiting family. Eloisa was a devoted mother, grandma, buela, tia, and friend. She found joy in being a part of life’s celebrations and witnessed weddings, baptisms, births, anniversaries, birthdays and graduations. She also comforted and shared her own experiences with those who were struggling. No matter the occasion though, Eloisa brought joy, and many times, laughter- oh what a laugh- to whoever she was with, but such is the case when one truly loves other people.
Her legacy of love continues in her family: her two sons, daughters-in-law and three daughters and sons-in-law: Gloria & Cecil Martinez of Beaver, OK, Tom & Betty Valdez of Albuquerque, Betsy & Dick McDonald of Albuqurque, Dorothy Bulls of Portales, and Lupe and Joann Valdez of Albuquerque;15 grandchildren, Roger Martinez, Michael Martinez, Ceann Getz, Malaquai Gaytan, Paige Goldstein, John Valdez, Alene Mora, Tomas Maestas, Stephanie Fascitelli, Sara Meeks, Jessica Jackson, Steven Valdez, Nicolas Valdez, Sammy Valdez and Maya Valencia; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tomas & Canderleria Medina, sister & brother, Maria and Armando Medina, her husband, Phillip Valdez, two sons, Sammy & Jerry Valdez, and son-in-love, Jace Bulls.
