It was a later than planned start for the game with the Santa Fe Indian School Lady Braves as they got a late start leaving Santa Fe Friday afternoon after the school tested the entire student body for Covid.
That delay however didn’t deter the Lady Braves as they took control of the ball early and pressuring the Lady Tigers with a full court press kept them at bay for the first two quarters of the game. The Lady Braves defense held Raton to only 10 points in the first half of the game while the Lady Braves bucketed 36 points.
The second half of the game would continue with Raton struggling at the line and from the field. The Lady Tigers simply couldn’t get the ball to fall missing lay-ups and field goals. Raton could only muster single digit scores in both of the second half quarters as SFIS coasted with 22 points.
At the buzzer SFIS topped Raton by 35 with a 58-23 win. This was the second district game for the Lady Tigers who suffered the loss of Giana Marez from an ankle injury.
