In Loving Memory of Carolyn Sue (Sandoval) Garcia

Carolyn Sue (Sandoval) Garcia, age 70, loving wife of 52 years, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and Friend was called to be with our lord on January 23, 2022, after almost a year-long, courageous battle with cancer.Carol was born May 15, 1951, in Raton, NM to the late Ted and Betty Sandoval. She married the love of her life, Albert Garcia, on July 5, 1969. She worked for the Raton Credit Bureau for many years and the Raton Water Works until her retirement in 2016 after 21 years.Carol was an immense sports fan. She loved her Dallas Cowboys, football, anything baseball, and a loyal Raton Tiger fan, never missing a game. She even watched them live-streamed while she was sick. Although her first love was watching her grandchildren, she never missed one of their games, recitals, or events. She loved bowling, pulling the handles at the casinos, and spending time with family and friends. She also loved her game shows and Hallmark movies.

Carol touched the lives of many with her kindness, gentle spirit, generosity, and passion for life.  She brought joy, inspiration, and love to everyone who knew her. She was very special to many people and the best friend and grams anyone could ever ask for. Carol was truly a unique light in the world and Raton’s “Grams or Grandma Carol. ”

Carol is survived by her husband Albert Garcia, son Kevin and wife Carol, daughter Tammy Gonzales and husband Richie and son David and wife Toni, all of Raton. Her 7 beloved grandchildren, Derrick Garcia and wife Danette, Darren Garcia and wife Haley, Tricia Mascarenas and husband Jimmy, Hunter Abaza and husband Janti, Alyssa Sanchez and husband Zeke, Richie Tyler Gonzales, and Brook Gonzales.  Her 10 great-grandchildren, Aliyus and Alijah Garcia, Aria and Amelia Garcia, Jimmie Ann, Cameron, and Dakota Mascarenas, Isla Abaza, Kaysen, and Brynley Sanchez.

She is also survived by her brother Ted Sandoval, wife Joann, sister Betty Evans and husband JB, sister JoEllen Owerko and husband John, sister-in-law Gloria Rose and Del, and Jane Medina. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive. Carol will be missed and loved.

Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Friday, February 11, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s/St. Patrick’s Catholic Church recited by Frank Cimino and Mark Riddiford. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s/St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Bill Woytavich as the Celebrant.
