Catherine Marie (Eagan) Wheeler at the age of 59, went to be with the Lord on January 4th, 2022 in Springfield Colorado surrounded by her family.
Cathy was born June 27th, 1962 in Amarillo TX to Edward and Patty Eagan. The family soon moved to Raton NM where Cathy grew up. She loved to bake, craft, and play with her siblings. She spent time helping run the family business, and visiting neighbors. She was always a social butterfly, and never met a stranger. She graduated from Raton High School in 1981.
She then met and married the love of her life Steve Wheeler. Unlike herself who grew up in town, Steve was a cowboy. A cowboy who lived on the ranch in the middle of nowhere (60 miles to the nearest grocery store) and Cathy loved it. She jumped into the role of ranch wife without much hesitation, and soon learned a whole new way of life. They built a family of 4 beautiful children, Kevin, Mark, Sara, and Christy. They resided on the Dry Cimarron River near Kenton Oklahoma until 1997 when Steve’s work took him to several different ranches. The next 3 years the family spent time in Miami TX, and Goodnight TX, before moving to Springfield/ Pritchett CO in 2000. She began working at the Springfield Hospital and Long Term Care Center as an Activity Aid soon after moving to Colorado, and worked within that department until 2012. While she loved her work, her focus was always on raising her kids and helping Steve take care of the cattle. She spent many late nights and early mornings making sure everything was in order for all of their activities. You could always count on Cathy to be at every activity her children were in. They knew that at every game, show ring, FFA event, or school program she would be in the crowd cheering them on. She was so proud of her children and was good at keeping them in line, and was the backbone of her family.
In 2012 after all their children had graduated high school, she and Steve moved back to the Dry Cimarron River where she helped him manage the His Blessings Ranch. During this time she loved helping with the everyday ranch life and cooking and caring for hunters that would come. Within this time she gained 6 beautiful grandbabies that she absolutely adored. In 2021 Steve and Cathy decided to slow down and move back to Pritchett Colorado where she resided until her death.
Cathy is preceded in death by her mother Patty Eagan, her nephew Jeffrey Eagan, and her father and mother in law Ben & Florence Wheeler.
