In Loving Memory of Keith A. Horner

Keith A Horner, born March 15, 1968, in Raton, New Mexico to Helen and the late Henry Berg.

Surviving Keith are his mother; two sisters, Annetta and Elizabeth Berg; his beloved wife, Cindy; his children, Ashley (Arturo) Levya, Brittney, and Chelsea of Colorado, and AbiGail (Jorian) Horner of Michigan; grandchildren, Aaliyah, Bentley, Rian, Harlee, and one more on the way; along with many other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In high school, he played football, number 61, for the Raton Tigers. During his senior year, Keith joined the Army National Guard and then went on to enlist in the United States Army shortly after graduation in 1986. He served in the Gulf War and Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He earned numerous patches and medals, but his most proud accomplishment was earning his Airborne Wings. After the Gulf War, he was stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky with the 5th Special Forces Group where he had his first daughter, Abi.

In 1992, after his time spent in the Army, he went home to Raton, New Mexico where he met the love of his life, Cindy, and daughter, Ashley. Cindy and Keith had some wild adventures together and in 1997 welcomed their daughter, Brittney. He went on to college where he earned his degree in Auto Mechanics and in 2002 welcomed their last daughter Chelsea.

In 2003, Keith began his career in the Oilfield Industry, where it led his family on their first adventure together to Green River, Wyoming. Their second and final journey led them to the place they settled and he called home, Fruita, Colorado. Although Keith spent years away from home traveling from city to city all over the States with his oilfield family he always found a way to surprise his wife and children. Whether it was a weekly bouquet of flowers or an unexpected surprise trip home. They never knew when he would show up; sometimes until the moment he would walk through the door. He always found a way to keep it fun and entertaining. But when he was home he always made sure to make the most of it from family dinners, random lunches, and game nights. He loved spending his time making memories with his family.

In 2019, Keith underwent an extensive brain surgery to remove a tumor, and once he recovered it was like nothing ever happened; he never missed a beat. But on December 15, 2021, Keith unexpectedly passed away from Covid pneumonia in St.George, Utah.

Keith had a personality, smile, and sense of humor like no other. He could light up any room and made friends with everyone he came in contact with. He was our rock, our hero, and our protector, and will be greatly missed.

Celebration of life will be at Alderette Pomeroy on January 12th at 11 am.
