Raton hosted the three teams from Clayton Tuesday evening January 4, 2022 where the girls dropped the game to Clayton and the boys both won convincingly with double digit wins.
The JV boys took to the court first since there was no Clayton girl’s JV team to play. The boys took the early lead and simply over powered the Clayton boys. Raton held Clayton to single digit quarters the entire game while Raton did 23 and 21 in the first half. The second half Raton lead enough for the running clock and a 61-23 win.
The Clayton girls took the lead quick and left Raton scoreless in the first quarter. After that the Raton girl’s defense came alive and at least kept Raton in the game. At the buzzer however Clayton won but only by 18 points with the help of five 3-pointers from Morgan Crisp.
The Raton varsity boys were a bit slow coming out of the gate, yet scored double digits in the first quarter. The second quarter the Clayton defense held Raton to only seven. The second half saw the Tigers come alive and do double digit quarters to extend their lead from a seven point game at half time to a 27 point lead at the buzzer.
