Alex Hillman Kolb, free-minded spirit and strong-willed to the end, passed away December 18, 2021, at Mt San Rafael Hospital in Trinidad from bacterial pneumonia and influenza A.
Alex was born October 19, 1988, in Raton, NM to Santina Frank and Richard Kolb.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Rick Kolb, his Nono, Bumps Buttram, and his grammy and granddaddy, Jewell and WH Kolb;
Alex attended school in Raton and received his GED from Highlands University. He loved music, especially the drums, and started playing on his Nono’s trap set at age four. Alex inherited his love for cars from his father and received his Automotive Certification from Trinidad State College. Up until his death, he was attempting to re-open Kolb Oil Company and the old Canyon Texaco station in Raton.
Alex is survived by his daughter Alexia Kolb and his son Richard Wayne Kolb, sister Mackenzi Kolb, half brother Joshua Romero, mother Santina Frank, step-father Dave Frank, Grandmother Lorraine Buttram, Uncle Jim Buttram and family, Uncle and Aunt David and Linda Buttram and family.
The family thanks the incredible team at Mt San Rafael Hospital emergency department, the Trinidad EMS, and the flight for life team.

Services are pending and are under the direction of the Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home.
I met your son at the darkest time in my life, we we exactly alike . Your son made me get clean. Those beautiful brown eyes got me. He made me want to stay clean and get my s*** together.
