Viola Mae Morris passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, December 19, 2021. She was born on January 23, 1931, in Slaton Texas to Edwin G. Miller and Helen C (Kitten) Miller. They moved to Trinidad Colorado in 1946.
She married Roy Frank Morris on January 19, 1950, together they raised 4 daughters and spent 65 years together before he passed away in 2015.
Viola loved to sew, cook and bake and was excellent at all. She made Cabbage patch dolls, quilt squares, and almost all of her clothes along with clothes for four girls and shirts for Roy. She loved making cookies and for several years made all of the cookies for the 1st National Bank open house in December. She also loved her garden and flowers and had a true green thumb.
Viola is survived by her daughters: Katherine (Carl) Snezek, Elyria, Ohio, Janet Morris, Trinidad, Co, Carol Silva, Monte Vista, Co and Doris (Tom) Zubal, Hoehne, Co. Sisters: Bernice Schwertner, Dumas, Tx, and Edna VanGundy, Trinidad, Co, and brother Tom (Sally) Miller, Trinidad, Co. She is also survived by 5 Grandchildren: Craig Frese, Misty (Lenny) Espinoza, Randy Frese, Frank Silva, and Tracy (Derek) DiCamillo, and 11 Great Grandchildren: Ashley, Brittany, Haley, and Jasmine Espinoza. Hunter, Eli, Noah, and Sophia Frese. Taylor, Cierra, and Beau DiCamillo and numerous nieces and nephews and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Roy Frank Morris, infant son Frank Morris, parents Edwin and Helen Miller, in-laws Joe and Lillian Morris, sister Allene Crichton; brother and sisters-in-law: George Crichton, Joe Schwertner, Raymond Morris, Nellie Morris, Ted, and Elaine Martin and nephew Larry Martin.
Rosary for Viola will be at 7 pm at Comi Funeral Home on Monday, January 3, 2022. The Funeral will be at Holy Trinity Church at 10 am on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, with burial following at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Viola’s name to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.
