In Loving Memory of Alex A. Romero

Alex passed away suddenly at his home on December 23 at the age of 81. He was born in Raton and graduated from Raton High School. Alex was proud to have served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1958-1962, at Camp Pendleton, California. He later trained as a Barber and Women’s hairstylist and operated a business in Raton for 5 ears. He followed this business with the remainder of his working days at the York Canyon Coal Mines.

He retired from the Mine after 30 years. Alex enjoyed frequent trips to Denver while his grandchildren were active in sports to attend their competitions. He had a great sense of humor, cared about people, and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

 Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Eva, and Andy Romero. He is survived by his wife,

Irene, Sister Veronica Lucero (Mike), and nieces Monica and Angel. He had 3 children: Thomas, Paul, and Andrea Apodaca (Ace), 7 Grandchildren: Paul II, Seth (Emma), Brianna, Haili, Thomas II, Cameron, and Anthony. 3 Great Grandchildren: Jacob, Joey, and Avriah. His Aunt Jenny Martinez, and numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

 Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will be on  Friday, December 31, 2021, at St. Patrick’s/ St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Woytavich as the Celebrant. Graveside service will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
