Raton High School is pleased to announce the School Winners of the Heisman High School Award.
Kira Channing Medina is the daughter of Steve and Melissa Medina. She participates in the RHS Volleyball and was a 3A District Champion her junior year, Basketball and Softball Teams. She is also a member of Student Senate, where she is currently serving as Executive President; FCCLA and is currently serving as the Chapter Vice President and served as the NM State Executive Council President her Junior year; National Honor Society, serving as the Chapter Secretary this year, and has maintained a GPA above a 4.0. Kira has also taken dual credit courses through Santa Fe Community College. Kira is also a member of the New Mexico Activities Association Student Leadership Advisory Council. After high school, Kira plans to attend an art school and major in Art & Design with an emphasis in public relations. With this education, she would like to pursue a career as an art/creative director.
Chase Celestin Kamp is the son of Ted and Traci Kamp. He is a member of the National Honor Society, has maintained a 4.0 GPA, and has taken many dual credit courses through Santa Fe Community College. He has competed in Basketball, Track & Field, and Cross Country and was the individual district champion in 2020 and all state runner placing 5th at state. He was also awarded the 2021 Boys All Harrier Team. He was the individual district champion in the 1600 and 3200 meter run in 2020/2021. Chase has been a member of 4-H for ten years where I have done a variety of community service activities and is currently serving as the Secretary for the Johnson Mesa 4-H club. He is an active member of his church where he volunteers in the nursery and participate in service projects wherever needed. He has also earned his Boy Scout Eagle Scout Award. After high school, Chase plans to study Pre-Physical Therapy and eventually become a Physical Therapist.
