Cremation has taken place and services will be scheduled at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.
Patricia Cates was born on October 19, 1956, in Raton, New Mexico to John Charles Cates, Sr., and Janet (Upton) Cates. She grew up in Mills, New Mexico, and attended school in Roy, New Mexico where she graduated from Roy High School. Patricia then started a family. Several years later Patricia went back to college and she attended Clovis Community College and graduated with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. She then attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales and graduated in 2007 with a Bachelors’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Patricia spent most of her life making crafts, she enjoyed ceramics and pottery and many other things, She was very talented and artistic. She lived in Grenville from 2009 to 2014 and then moved to Trinidad for a short time before returning to Grenville.

HER PARENTS: John and Janet Cates of Roy, New Mexico.
3 SONS: Robert Cates and his wife Chelsey of Ellsworth, Kansas, Cody Cates and his wife Miranda of Prescott, Arizona, and Michael Cates and his wife Jamie of Roy, New Mexico.
7 GRANDCHILDREN: Desmond Cates, Paul Cates, Marcus Cates, Nathan Cates, Maria Cates, Kennadie Cates, and Caston Cates.
4 BROTHERS: John Cates, Jr. And his wife Sandra of Logan, New Mexico, William Vern Cates of Sky Valley, Arizona, H. D. Cates and his wife Elizabeth of Roy, New Mexico, and Clint Cates and his wife Jill of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
