It is with the deepest sorrow and regret, the Colfax County Sheriff’s Office
announce that Undersheriff Jeffrey Montoya passed on September 25, 2021,
at his residence in Angel Fire New Mexico. Currently, the cause of death is
undetermined, but it is under investigation by the Angel Fire Police
Department.
Undersheriff Montoya has served with the Colfax County Sheriff’s Office
since 2015 and has been key in developing and growing the Colfax County
Sheriff’s Office. Prior to joining the Colfax County Sheriff’s Office,
Undersheriff Montoya retired as a Master Sergeant from United States Air
Force. Undersheriff Montoya will be missed by the agency and those who
knew him.
