Clayton traveled the four lane to Raton Monday afternoon September 13, for a match with the Lady Tigers and went home with a win, including a big comeback win in game four of the match.
Raton kept both game one and two close. In game one Raton and Clayton tied the score at 17, 19, 21, 22 before Clayton went on to bring home the win. Raton struggled in game two but came from behind for a tie game at 19. Raton mistakes however cost the Lady Tigers and the win went to Clayton.
Game three however saw the Jackettes fall behind after a tie at two and the deficit kept growing wider as the Jackettes mistakes gave Raton the points. As the game continued Clayton simply couldn’t make the ball land in bounds and continued to give Raton the necessary points for a 25-15 win.
Game four of the match saw Raton take the quick lead and soon saw Clayton down by eight at 16-8. How quickly the tables turned as Raton saw their lead dwindle to two. Then by the time they hit 22, Clayton had tied the game with solid play at the net and Raton had begun to make the mistakes that would eventually cost them the game and the match. Raton rallied to tie the game at 24, but Clayton took the remaining two points for the 26-24 win.
