In Loving Memory of Pete E. Martinez SERVICES UPDATE

Pete E. Martinez age 70 of Raton, passed away Thursday March 19, 2020 in Raton. He was born July 10, 1949 in Springer, NM the son of Felix and Margaret Gonzales-Martinez. Pete had worked in the Allen Coal Mine in Trinidad, CO and retired from the State Of New Mexico Highway Department. He was a member of St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, a member of the NRA and the UNMW Local 9856.

Pete loved talking to everybody he would meet. He would tell all the gentlemen he would meet they looked like a million dollars and all the ladies they were beautiful. He spent alot of time at McDonalds, Jr’s, Oasis, Arbys and Loaf N Jug drinking coffee with his brother and friends. He loved his grandson so much when introduced or talked about him he would say “This is My Grandson”, he loved taking him to the NRA, fishing and teaching him to drive his car out in the country. Pete also enjoyed hunting, going out to the family ranch, being outdoors and spending most of his time with his girl dog (Diamond). Family was the most important thing to him. Pete was a very caring and loving husband, father and grandfather he would give you his shirt off his back, he had a heart of gold.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Lee Martinez, sister Annie Maestas, sister in law Antoinette Martinez and father in law Phil Vargas. He is survived by his wife Jeanette Martinez of the home, one daughter, Bertha M. Martinez of Albuquerque, NM, Grandson Ethan Eyers of Albuquerque, NM, three sisters, Tina Maestas of Alamogordo, NM, Mary Cruz of Maxwell, NM and Sandra Trujillo and husband Basil of Raton. Three brothers, Andrew Martinez and wife Ernestine of Monta Vista, CO. Eloy Martinez of Raton and Danny Martinez and wife Yolanda of Raton. Many nephews and nieces.

Pete will be missed by his family and many friends. May he rest in peace.

SERVICES UPDATE:

Will be held at St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Arrangements for Pete E. Martinez are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
