Eloy Salvador Martinez age 74 of Raton passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020, peacefully in his home. He was born January 18, 1946, in Chico, New Mexico the son of Felix and Margaret Gonzales-Martinez. He retired from the City of Raton after more than 30 years of service. After retirement from the City of Raton, he worked for the Colfax County Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of the St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Eloy was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed going out to the family ranch. He would take his daily ride around town to check on and visit family and friends. He looked forward to spending time and caring for his great-grandson Isaiah.
Eloy is preceded in death by his parents, uncle Juan Sandoval, wife Antoinette Martinez, son Manuel Vargas, brothers Lee Martinez and Pete Martinez, sister Annie Maestas and father-in-law Phil Vargas. He is survived by daughter Veronica Sanchez of Raton, and son Joseph Vargas of Raton, three sisters Tina Maestas of Alamogordo, NM, Mary Cruz of Maxwell, NM, and Sandra Trujillo and husband Basil of Raton. Two brothers Andrew Martinez and wife Ernestine of Monte Vista, CO, and Danny Martinez and wife Yolanda of Raton. Four grandchildren Shantele Medkiff and Ryan Sanchez of Raton, and Katrina Vargas and Rachel Sanchez of Albuquerque, NM. Two great-grandchildren, Isaiah Sanchez and Serenity Medkiff of Raton, and Sister in law Jeanette Martinez.
Eloy will be missed by his family and friends. May he rest in Peace.
