Jim moved to Denver, Colorado where he met the love of his life Elaine Marie Arcangeli. They were united in marriage April 4, 1959, in Raton. Together with their family they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage.
Jim was enlisted with the Wyoming Army National Guard from 1956-1958, and the New Mexico National Guard from 1958-1962.
Jim worked for Kaiser Steel as a welder and supervisor from 1965-1986, then the Raton Housing authority until he retired in 2001.
It is said that “There is only one happiness in this life, to love and to be loved” and Jim did just that. He loved his family, and they always came first. He taught his children and grandchildren to be kind, generous and hard working. One of the best lessons he taught was to, “only believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.”
His love of sports was contagious. He shared his passion with his family and with the community. Jim played city basketball and was a high school basketball referee. He coached teams for T-ball, Little League, and his favorite women’s softball. We will always remember him when we see Jim Wade Field. Jim loved the game of golf and had great stories to tell about his adventures and the special friends he played with. He will be missed by many.
Jim is preceded in death by his mother and father – Everette and Lola Wade, sisters Bonnie Howard and Shirly Holt, brothers- Jack Wade and Pat Wade, and his beloved wife Elaine Wade.
