James Ray McCarley of Midland, Texas

James Ray McCarley (83) passed into eternal rest on August 17, 2021 at home in Midland, Texas after an extended illness.
A visitation for James will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at First United Methodist Church, 300 N Main St, Midland, Texas. A funeral service will occur Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 1:00 PM.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Clayton Memorial Cemetery in Clayton, New Mexico by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.
Jim grew up on a ranch outside of Clayton, New Mexico. After graduating from Clayton High School, Jim attended Highlands University where he was active in theatre and music. Jim and Sue met at Highlands, married in 1959 and raised four daughters. Jim spent a career with Southwestern Portland Cement (later Cemex) of Odessa and Amarillo, and retired in 2003. Jim was actively involved in church activities throughout his life, especially the church choir. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Connie McCarley of Clayton and a son-in-law Bo Davis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sue. He is also survived by his daughters Katy Davis, Connie McMinn (Chris), Sherry Grimes (Alan), and Melissa Cox (Devin), grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Tyler Moon, James Davis, Jared Grimes, Alan Grimes, Chris McMinn, Devin Cox, Tauri Cox, Travis Williams and Cheyenne McMinn.
