Justin A. Esquibel, 85, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and brother passed away peacefully Friday, July 23, 2021 at his home, surrounded by family.
Justin was born in Wagon Mound and then went on to become a lifelong resident of Springer, NM. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Veteran. Justin’s dedication to his career included more than 50 years serving the community as an employee of Pendleton Oil and Gas Company.
Justin was preceded in death by his parents Elesayo Esquibel and Merle Chapman-Esquibel, brothers Phillip Esquibel and Donald Esquibel, and wife of 52 years Margaret Esquibel.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son David Esquibel and spouse Iris Leyba of Springer, daughter Donna Esquibel of Albuquerque, stepdaughter Dorothy and spouse Olmedo Ramirez of Springer, and stepson Steve Mares and spouse Agnes Mares of Springer.
Grandchildren, Damian Ramirez, Michael Ramirez, Paul Mares, Gerald Mares, Daniel Trujillo, Deanna Gold, Beverlee Cassidy, Jaclyn Armijo and numerous great-grandchildren. He also leaves many cherished nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Special friends to serve as pallbearers are Steve Fernandez, Toby Martinez, and Francisco Leyba.
