In Loving Memory of Wallace Edwin Palmer

Wallace Edwin Palmer, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at his home in Dalhart, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Mountain Time on Monday, August 9, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Billy Rammage and Rev. Hilario Perez officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Wallace Edwin Palmer was born on March 16, 1948 in Stead, New Mexico to Dale Wallace Palmer and Ora Thelma (McKee) Palmer. He worked at a variety of jobs at an early age, Kenneth Carmichael and Tommy Bates, Sr. both in New Mexico. In 1965 he worked for Paps Scott in Kansas, Oren Bates in 1966, HWB Groceries for 2 or more years in Dalhart. C.J. Kuper for 10 years, United Supply for 1 year, Wilco Elevators for 12 years as a manager and for the last 2 years as Branch Manager at Wilco & Hartley Co-op. Wallace worked as a grader operator at Hartley County for 19 years. After he retired he went back to work for his son Shawn Palmer at Palmer Blade Service and worked for 6 years until his death. When his doctor asked him what his favorite hobby was, Wallace answered him “Work”. Wallace was preceded in death by his father, Dale Wallace Palmer, mother, Ora Thelma McKee Palmer, 2 sisters, Amy Juleatha Garrison and Moyie Carol Herriman and a brother Alvin Dale Palmer.

SURVIVORS:

His loving wife Jean Palmer of 56 years in November.

3 SONS: Dale Wallace Palmer and his wife Sandy, Shawn Damon Palmer and his wife Tabby, Brett Trevors Palmer and his wife Kassie.

2 BROTHERS: Larry Don Palmer and his wife Pam and Jerry Dee Palmer and his wife Opal.

2 SISTERS: Mary Margaret Palmer-Garrison and Ora Jane Palmer-Reynolds.

9 GRANDCHILDREN: Tawni, Mason, Cheyenne, Chad, Kandi & husband Kevin, Kyiah, Riley Jean, Trista & Mathew.

8 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Kara, Autumn, Jordan, Emery, Jayton, Anjelica, Josslyn & Kaydence.

MEMORIALS: The family asks that memorials be made in Wallace’s memory to either the First Baptist Church of Clayton, PO Box 87, Clayton, New Mexico 88415 or to the First Baptist Church of Cactus in Etter, PO Box 100, Cactus, Texas 79013 or to the Dalhart Cowboy Church, 414 Rock Island Ave., Dalhart, Texas 79022.
