In Loving Memory of Bernadette “Bernie” Alison Duran

 

10/22/1963 – 06/16/2021

 

Bernadette “Bernie” age 57 was called to Heaven on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at her home in Segundo. Bernadette was born on October 22, 1963 in Trinidad, CO to Mary Maxine (Derrera) and Jose A. (deceased) Duran of Segundo, CO. Bernadette graduated from Primero High School in 1982 and she was a loving person who was devoted to her mother and family members. She was skilled in crocheting, needlepoint and embroidery. Growing up she enjoyed camping and fishing trips with her family.

 

Bernadette enriched our lives by bringing love, laughter and joy to her family and friends. Bernadette will forever be missed, we will cherish our time and memories of her. Especially all of the heartfelt gifts she made for her family and friends. Bernadette will be deeply missed for the many daily phones calls she made checking up on everyone.

 

She is survived by her mother Maxine; siblings Vicki (Monte) Smith of Arvada; Marie Abu-Okal of Thornton; Cheryl Duran of Segundo; and Dwayne (Laurie) Duran of Denver. “Aunt Bernie” had numerous nephews and nieces; Aaron Smith; Jenifer Smith; Dewey (Devyna) Duran; Mona (Guillermo) Laing; Maye Lynna (Rueben) Ramirez; Andrew (Monika) Duran; and Ali (Aubrey) Abu-Okal. Also to cherish her memories and the many afghans, doilies and the skills she tried to pass on are her great-nephews and nieces; Jayden Healey; Max Opperman; Xavier and Rueben Ramirez; Isaiah Lovato; Nyellie and Harley Duran; Makilah and Amelia Duran; Mahmoud and Zakaria “Zak” Abu-Okal; Giuliana “Gigi” Laing and future great-niece Abu-Okal arriving in July.

 

Celebration of Life Memorial, Monday, July 12 @ 10 am, Comi Chapel. Reception to follow at St. Joseph Hall, 1704 Buena Vista St., Trinidad. Private interment at a later date at The Tercio Cemetery in the Duran Family Plot. The family can be reached at 23474 County Road 45.4, Trinidad CO 81082.
