Robert D. (Bob) Risley passed away May 25th, 2021 at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo; after suffering a severe fall in February followed by many complications.
He was born on July 24th, 1940 to Floyd and Marion Risley in Trinidad, Colorado. Bob graduated from Trinidad High School in 1958. The day after graduation, at age 17, he joined the Navy and left for boot camp in San Diego. He became a corpsman and served at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii and was enrolled in the University of Hawaii School of Pharmacology. He attended the ceremony in Honolulu when Hawaii became our 50th state in August 1959. Robert D. Risley received an honorable discharge from the Navy.
Bob returned to Colorado and spent a number of years in Fort Collins. He also lived in Salt Lake City, Utah; Amarillo, Texas; and La Junta, Colorado before returning to his hometown of Trinidad. Bob was initiated into the Elks Lodge in La Junta and transferred his membership to the order of the Elks in Trinidad.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, brother Ronald Risley, and brother-in-law David Benedetti.
He will be missed by Sally Gansz, Sarah Jane (Frank) Ruybalid, and grandchildren Nicholas Ruybalid and Sally Jane Ruybalid. He is survived by his brothers Bill (Sydney) Risley, Colorado Springs; Mike (Mary) Risley, Dallas Texas; and sister Iryse (Dave) Naro, Colorado Springs; nephews Brian Risley, David Risley, Rance Risley, Eric Risley, Bradley Benedetti, and Brett Benedetti, and many cousins.
Pallbearers will be Bill Risley, Mike Risley, Dave Naro, Brian Risley, Bradley Benedetti, and Brett Benedetti.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 1st, 2021 at the Comi funeral home from 3 p.m. until 7 PM. The funeral will be Wednesday, June 2nd, at 1p.m. at the First Christian Church followed by internment at the Masonic Cemetery with graveside services conducted by the United States Naval Honor Guard .
