Colorado Pet Pantry Expands its Pet Food Bank to Trinidad

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 5/13/21

Trinidad, CO – Colorado Pet Pantry is hosting a new monthly pet food bank serving the Trinidad area. The first pet food distribution event will take place on May 19, 2021 and will continue on the third Wednesday of every month from 10 – 11:30 AM for ages 60 and up, and from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM for all ages at Las Animas Fairgrounds, 2000 N Linden Ave, Trinidad, CO 81082.

This pet food bank is in partnership with Care and Share of Southern ColoradoThe Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), and Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association in Trinidad.

The addition of the pet food bank in Trinidad comes after recent expansion in the southwest area of Colorado including Dolores, Dove Creek, Durango, Grand Junction, Mancos, and the Towaoc reservation in the four corners region.

“We are thrilled to bring these much-needed services to the Trinidad area,” said Eileen Lambert, Executive Director of the Colorado Pet Pantry. “The addition of this pet food bank has been years in the making, and we are grateful to our partners and volunteers who make it all possible. Because of our monthly pet food banks, we’ve been able to keep tens of thousands of pets fed, housed with their loving families, and out of shelters.”

“We’re very excited about this partnership which will enable pets to stay with their families during hardships,” said Laurel Young, Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association Director. “During COVID, this resource will bring a huge benefit to the residents of our area, and we’re thrilled to continue this relationship ongoing to support our community.”

About Care and Share of Southern Colorado

At Care and Share Food Bank, we believe that no one should go hungry. Every day, we provide food to our partner food pantries and meal sites across Southern Colorado to serve our neighbors in need because well-fed communities are better for us all. Care and Share exists to ensure that the one in eight Southern Coloradans at risk of hunger have access to enough healthy and nutritious food to thrive. We know that children without adequate access to food cannot develop successfully, families cannot plan for their future, and seniors find it more difficult to remain independent. About Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association

It is the mission of Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association to work collaboratively, increasing the life-saving capacity of dogs & cats within our region while maintaining a safe and comfortable home for every dog & cat in Las Animas County. Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association started as a foster-based program in 1998 by a group of concerned citizens seeking proper and humane animal care in the Trinidad area.  As a result of the efforts of this pioneer group, Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association took over the day-to-day operations of the City of Trinidad Animal Shelter in 2001.
