Families of Des Moines Students,
It is hard to believe the end of school is here. This has been a whirlwind of a year that has tested all of us. We appreciate the dedication of our teachers, staff and families to flex with the many changes that we have encountered.
We have a couple surveys that we would like you to do in order to inform programs. First of all we have a survey to determine if you would like to continue the four days on campus and virtual Fridays next school year. Secondly, the New Mexico Public Education Department is surveying families about cafeteria food service during the pandemic. We appreciate the time you take to complete both surveys. bit.ly/NMFoodReview
Union County General Hospital will offer Covid-19 testing on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 pm at the Des Moines Health Clinic. This is completely voluntary and a service to you. Insurance will be billed but there is no out of pocket expense for this service. Students under the age of 18 must have parent consent. The clinic will continue to be open on Wednesdays all summer.
End of Year Activities:
Wednesday, May 12: 6th -11th grade field trip to WTAMU and Panhandle Plains Museum- be at school at 6:30 am
Thursday, May 13th: Elementary Field Day at 12:45- Families are welcome- please help us to continue to comply with Governor Grishams’s heath order
Friday, May 14th: Senior Field Trip- Seniors last day of school
Saturday, May 15th: Graduation Class of 2021- Each student is allowed 18 spectators- We will broadcast the graduation over the airwaves within a mile of the school for anyone to hear on FM 89.3.
Tuesday, May 19th: Kindergarten Graduation
Wednesday, May 20th: Athletic Awards Assembly at the gym at 6 pm;
Friday, May 21st: Last day of school- Assembly in gym at 10 am. Early dismissal at 12:30 following lunch. This is a required school day.
Thank you for continuing to make this best little district in the state of New Mexico. It has truly taken a village to conquer the challenges of the last year.
