The Raton Lady Tigers hosted the West Las Vegas Lady Dons Friday evening April 30, 2021 for the final district game of the regular unseason while the boys game was cancelled due to a positive COVID test.
It was a low scoring affair taking a couple of minutes before either team could put one in the basket. raton was the first to find the bucket but West followed suit on their next trip down the court and then added a 3-pointer for a 5-2 ball game in the first quarter. West sunk two more to make it a 9-2 game at the end of the first.
Raton woke up and outscored West 11-10 in the second quarter as the lady Tigers went 4-4 at the free throw line with Baylor Walton doing five of the 11. Madison Marquez added to her total with a 3-pointer and West went 3-4 at the line to end the half 19-13.
Second half action continued with West doubling down and sinking 22 points to Raton’s 11. Briana Marquez did 13 of the 22 points with two 3-pointers and a free throw. It was an even game in the fourth with both teams scoring eight. West however, took the win back to Vegas with a 49-32 score.
