Ernesto Porras Ontiveros, age 74 of Aguilar Colorado passed away unexpectedly at home on April 12, 2021
Ernesto was born on November 10, 1946 to Consuelo Ontiveros and Enrique Porras in Morita, Chihuahua Mexico.
Upon his arrival to Colorado when he was a young man, he had his first job as a ranch hand and lived and worked in Aguilar and Pryor Colorado. After a few years of working there, he then met his soon to be wife Diane Porras (Polunci) and they married and moved to their forever home in Aguilar in 1979. Ernesto soon started his own tree landscaping business where he worked and ran Porras Trees for over 30 years.
Ernesto is survived by his wife Diane Porras (Polunci) son Joseph Porras (Sara) and daughter Jennifer Porras (Eric) and 2 step-children Shawn Barrett (JoAnn), and Shane Barrett (Suzanne)
He had 14 grandchildren, Danielle Barrett Martinez, Shawn Barrett, Dominic Barrett, Jeffrey Barrett, Synthia Barrett, Kimberly Barrett, Audrey Rackley, Jordan Porras, Franchesca Porras, Jayden Baudino, and Jayce Baudino, Andie Ortega, Trea Ortega and Laney Ortega. He 6 great grandchildren, Riley West, Mason Sanchez, Roselee Martinez, Daisy Martinez, Ethan Martinez and Anthony Martinez.
He is survived by 1 brother, Angel Porras Ontiveros and 5 sisters, Graciela Porras Ontiveros, Maria Ines Porras Ontiveros, Elvira Porras Ontiveros, Irene Porras Ontiveros, and Carmen Porras Ontiveros.
He was preceded in death by his parents Consuelo Ontiveros (mother) and Enrique Porras (father) and 1 stepson Scott Barrett, 1 sister Luisa Porras Ontiveros and granddaughter Elizabeth Porras.
In Ernesto’s spare time he loved fishing, dancing, playing softball and enjoyed visiting with family and friends and raising all his farm animals. Quite often you would find him sitting outside on the porch of his home or in the animal pens just telling stories of his life and passing on his wisdom. Anybody who knew Ernesto knew he was a man who always kept his word, and would help anyone and always just enjoyed life. He was a very intelligent man and would share his wisdom with anyone who took the time to listen to him. No matter what this man was going through he always took the time to make sure everyone else was doing okay and always took care of his family.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday. April 24, 2021 at 10am at the Comi Funeral Home Chapel, Trinidad, CO , followed by the graveside services at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Aguilar CO., with Brother Harry Gonzales officiating. Covid restrictions apply.
The family invites you to gather with them following the services ,at 1pm at the Aguilar Community Center.
