In Loving Memory of John G. Payton

John G. Payton age 86 of French Track, NM passed away Wednesday March 24, 2021 at his home. He was born November 2, 1934 in Siloam Springs, AR, the son of Durrell Avery and Virgie Viola Gossett-Payton. He was a cattle rancher and a member of the Raton Elks and the Panhandle Old Time Blue Grass Association.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Pauline of 48 years, parents, brothers A.J and Herald Payton and sisters, Arlene Reno, Joyce Beers and Sue Weisdorfer. John is survived by one daughter, Judy D. Rogers and husband Charles of Maxwell, NM, sons, Jack G. Payton and partner Brad Tibbetts of Albuquerque, NM, and John M. Payton of Brownfield, TX. Ex, daughter-in-law, Linda Payton of Raton, NM. Sister-in-law Carol Orthman of Amarillo, TX. grandchildren, Kayla Payton of Raton, Garrett Hill of Maxwell and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday April 3, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home in Raton. Graveside services and burial will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the Springer Cemetery in Springer with Pastor Roy Mitchell officiating.

A potluck lunch will be served for the family and close friends immediately after the service at the 1st Baptist Church fellowship hall.

Covid restrictions will apply masks are required.
