Another evening of high school volleyball and the Raton Senior girl’s last unseason home match goes in the record books Thursday evening (March 25, 2021) with the Mora Rangerettes pulling it out in four games.
The JV match was all but boring as game one remains close in the beginning with Mora pulling out in front only to find the Lady Tigers battling back for a tie game at 23. Raton squeaked out the win. In game two Raton took a 10-5 lead and allowed Mora to battle back with ties at 10,11 and 18. Raton pulled out the win by four.
The varsity match went to Mora but it was not an easy win as Raton tied game one at 13 and remains close till the end. The match was noted for some long volleys back and forth before one team or the other would make the bobble and loose the point. Game two saw another close one as the teams tied the game at 6,7 and 8 before Raton took the lead by four only to allow Mora to tie the game at 20 and 23 before Mora slammed it home for the points and the win.
Game three was the nail bitter as both teams traded the lead several times with the score tied nine times the last tie at 17. Raton took the lead and the win by six. Game four saw Mora dominate things and create a hefty lead and a 10 point win to end the match in four.
