Richard U French age 89 of Raton, passed away Saturday, March 6th, 2021 in Raton. He was born June 20th, 1931 in Wynona, Ok the son of Aubyn and Clarissa M. Johnson-French.
Richard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Raton and spoke often of his church family and the friendship of his Sunday School class.
Richard was a published author of two books, Four Days from Fort Wingate and Return to the Lost Adams Diggings, as well as several magazine articles about mining and scenic areas like the Enchanted Circle. He had a passion for gold mines, minerals, and rocks. He also enjoyed polishing and faceting/cutting jewelry from stones.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Rauh and husband Dennis of Canton, OK, and Carla Serazio and husband Bill of Raton. One son David French and wife Tami of Denver, Co. Three Grandchildren, Justin Rauh and wife Brooke of Cypress, TX. Nicholas Rauh and girlfriend Jordan Yoder of Loveland CO, and Angie Ortega of Raton, NM. Five great-grandchildren, Tyce Rauh, Kaitlyn Rauh, Andie Ortega, Trea Ortega, and Araya Valverde. Three nephews, Danny Bixler, Kevin Bixler, and Brian Bixler.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his sister.
Funeral Services will be Friday, March 12, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Nathan Ramirez officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, TX.
