Raton Lady Tigers once again took to the court for their first home match of the unseason for NM high school volleyball Wednesday evening after traveling to Springer for a match on Tuesday evening where the match went five games.
Wednesday’s matches included two middle school games that were close with identical results. Cimarron won both games 25-21.
In the JV match Raton took the early lead in game one and never looked back toppling the Lady Rams 25-12. The second game of the match was much closer at first with the score going back and forth until halfway through the game when Raton finally took command of the ball and pulled away taking the game 25-17.
The first two varsity games saw Raton take an early and commanding lead by controlling the net while Cimarron looked cold making several mistakes with the ball. Game three however was the game that made up for the other two as Cimarron kept pace with Raton tying the game at 9, 10 and 11 before taking the lead 13-11. At one point the Lady Rams lead 16-11 before Raton came back and tied the game at 19. From there it was back and forth with tie scores at 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25. Raton then took the lead and scored the final two points for the 27-25 win to end the match in three.
