In Loving Memory of Sheila Jean White

Sheila Jean White, age 85, died on Sunday, February 14, 2021, in Clayton, New Mexico.A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Sheila Jean White was born on January 28, 1936, to John W. White and Dorothy (Wilson) White in St. Paul, Minnesota. She graduated from Pine City, Minnesota high school and went on to Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, graduating with a degree in English. After teaching for two years in Windom, Minnesota, she began teaching under the Methodist Board of Home Missions, serving at Holding Institute in Laredo, Texas, Mather Academy in Camden, South Carolina, and Harwood School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. When Harwood closed in 1976, she moved to Clayton, New Mexico where she taught English and Drama and later became the librarian until her retirement. While at Harwood School, she earned her Master’s degree at the University of New Mexico. Sheila was preceded in death by her grandparents; Charles and Ella Mae Dorety Wilson and John J. And Cerena Burnett White and her parents; John W. And Dorothy Wilson White. Sheila was an active member of Clayton United Methodist Church. She loved serving her Lord and was involved in many aspects: music, leading the adult and cherub choirs for a number of years as well as helping with Bible School. She was a member of United Methodist Women and a part of the Emmaus community and also served with the Kairos prison ministry. She represented the school on the board of Thompson Memorial Library for many years.

SURVIVORS:

1 SISTER: Ardis Bowers and her husband Robert of Clayton, New Mexico.

Nephews: Garth Bowers and his wife Jennifer and their daughter Abigail of Oro Valley, Arizona, and Neil Bowers and his wife Becky and their children Wesley, John, and Elise of Richmond, Virginia.

And other relatives and friends.
