TRINIDAD, Colo – Families with a 2020 income of less than $66,000 can get free tax filing help through a partnership between Trinidad State, volunteers, and GetYourRefund.org.
The process has been streamlined to allow people to file online without leaving home.
Here’s how it Works:
- Answer Questions
You’ll be asked a series of questions about your household and finances. - Upload Your Tax Documents
Securely upload pictures of your tax documents, social security card/ITIN, photo ID, and a picture of yourself holding your ID. - Informational Interview
An IRS-certified volunteer will call to make sure that we have everything we need to accurately prepare your tax return. - Your Taxes Are Prepared
To ensure accuracy and give you the best refund possible, each tax return goes through a quality review process with a second IRS-certified volunteer. - Final Review
Another IRS-certified volunteer will call to review your final tax return information. After the call, you’ll be sent a password-protected, electronic copy of your tax returns to e-sign. With these signatures, we can E-File your Federal and State returns. - Get Your Refund
After your returns are E-filed, all you have to do is wait for your refund to arrive! If you have questions after filing, we are available to help!
To begin the process, visit trinidadstate.edu/tax. Those without computer access at home can visit a public library.
