In Loving Memory of LaVerne M. Gagliardi

LaVerne Marie (Alt) Gagliardi, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 8, 2021 at the Trinidad Inn Nursing Home in Trinidad Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Gagliardi and son Jack Gagliardi. LaVerne is survived by children Lori North and Jim (Diane) Gagliardi; daughter-in-law Sara Gagliardi; grandchildren Gordon (Michelle) Lancaster, Chris (Claire) Lancaster, Drew Gagliardi, Kayla Gagliardi, and Tony Gagliardi.  She is also survived by five great grandchildren and special niece Gayle Porter

She was born on April 16, 1928 in Walsen Camp, CO to Jack & Rosa Alt. Upon her mother’s death, LaVerne and her four siblings were taken into the home of her oldest sister and her husband, Agnes and Joe Sinkovich, where they lived until they graduated from Aguilar High School.  She was the last surviving sibling of the Alt family.

She graduated from Aguilar High School in 1946.  She worked for Mountain Bell for 25 years and retired in 1978. After her retirement from Mountain Bell, she began her second career as a Walmart employee where she worked for 23 years; retiring on July 30, 2010.  Many of us will always remember her as the voice over the intercom while doing our shopping at Walmart.

LaVerne was united in marriage to Frank Gagliardi on June 12, 1954 and they celebrated 65 years of marriage.

LaVerne enjoyed playing bingo, penny slots at any casino, playing cards with the girls and in her later years with her kids and grandchildren.  She loved cruising the streets of Trinidad, buying lotto scratch tickets and enjoying an ice cream cone with her friend Josie.  She also spent many hours chatting on the telephone.  She was a wonderful cook and a great baker.  Her potica was so delicious.

LaVerne was very proud of all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and loved when the family was together celebrating.

In-lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the H R Sayer Senior Center or Alzheimer’s Association in LaVerne’s memory.
