In Loving memory of Bernice M. Martinez

Bernice M. Martinez of Cimarron, NM, went to be with our Lord, January 2nd, 2021 in Clovis NM.

Bernice was born in Raton, NM to Leo and Viola Fernandez on December 8th, 1954. She went to school and graduated in Des Moines NM.  She married Nick W. Martinez on March 23rd, 1974, in Raton NM.  They were married for 46 years.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Fernandez, Sister Sue Maestas, brother Frank Fernandez, and unborn great-grandchild of Leandra Martinez.

Bernice is survived by her husband Nick W. Martinez of Cimarron, NM. Son James Martinez of Lakewood, CO. Daughter Josephine Cordova and Husband Tony Cordova of Rio Rancho, NM. Daughter Stacy Wootton and Husband John Wootton of Clovis, NM.  Grandson Andrew Martinez of Brighton, CO (son of Josephine Cordova). Granddaughter Leandra Martinez and fiancé Cisco Garza and Granddaughter Natalie Wootton (children of Stacy and John Wootton). Granddaughter Lisset Martinez (daughter of James Martinez). Granddaughters Alexa Clark and husband Brendan, Kaitlyn Cordova and Fiancé Colton Carter, and Mariah Cordova (daughters of Tony Cordova). She is also survived by great-grandchildren Jameson and Garret Clark (children of Alexa and Brendan Clark). Cooper Carter (son of Kaitlyn Cordova and Colton Carter), and expected greatgrandchild of Leandra Martinez and Cisco Garza.

Bernice is also survived by Sister Frances Esquibel and Husband Anthony Esquibel, Sr. of Springer, NM. Sister Gloria Rivera of Maxwell, NM. Brother Juan Fernandez and Wife Yvonne Fernandez of Stinnet, TX. Brother Charlie Romero and Wife Rosie Romero of Clayton, NM. Sister Vivian Norris of Espanola, NM. Brother Paul Fernandez of Farmington, NM.

Bernice had many In-Laws from the Martinez family. She also had many nieces and nephews, great-nieces, and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews from both sides of the family.

Bernice was a blessing to many friends and loved by all who knew her. She had a great sense of humor, loved telling jokes, playing games, and fixing puzzles. She loved spending time with her husband and family.  She was a huge part of the community and had a deep faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Celebration of Life for Bernice is pending due to Covid-19 restrictions. The family will notify all of the exact dates and times of the Celebration.

    May you rest in peace with your parents and brother and sister in heaven! Bless you and you will be missed. I think of you when we all were young and visiting – all 17 kids (cousins)
