John L. Gyurman, 84, of Tyrone passed away at the family ranch on December 23, 2020. He was born to John and Josephine (Fabec) Gyurman on August 2, 1936. John attended school in the one room school house in Tyrone, Model and graduated from Hoehne High School in 1954. While at Hoehne he was Senior Youth Record Stockman of the Month for 1954, played baseball and was a member of FFA and 4-H and he showed cattle with his brothers. John attended Colorado Aggies in Fort Collins, CO.
John was united in marriage to Daria Boyle on November 7, 1964. John was a member of the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, Southern Colorado Livestock Association where he was a past president and a member and past president of the Soil Conservation District. He also served for several years as the Republican representative for Las Animas County. John loved to visit and have a good cup of coffee with friends and family. He was a good mechanic and would stop what he was doing to help anyone who needed it. He would jump into any project and was very knowledgeable about vehicles. He was always willing to fix anything and had a photographic memory. He was involved in 4-H with his kids, grandkids and nieces. John did what he loved all his life, which was ranching with his dad, uncle and brothers.
John L. was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine, his siblings, Josephine, Betty Jo and Alfred Gyurman. Also preceded by his son John M. Gyurman and daughter LeAndra Gyurman. He is survived by his wife Daria Gyurman, son Scott (Polly) Gyurman, brother Ed (Joy) Gyurman, cousins Charles (Betty Jo) Gyurman and Kennie Gyurman, Bill (Cindy) Poole, Debbie Jo Padilla. Nieces Carrie Gyurman Wills and Barbara (Scott) Redfield. He is the loving grandfather of Natasia (Jarod) Gyurman Cosgrove, Krysta (Mike) Gyurman Toci, Seth (Lubitz)/ (Annelore) Trujillo, Ian, Aaron, Marie & Danielle Lubitz; Savanna, Emily and Kennedy Gyurman. Great grandchildren Charles Lawler, Logan and Landen Toci, Ezra and Amillion Trujillo.
Pallbearers are Seth (Lubitz) Trujillo, Ian Lubitz, Aaron Lubitz, Jarod Cosgrove, Mike Toci and Logan Wills.
Public viewing will be Tuesday, December 29th at Comi Funeral Home in Trinidad from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Funeral will be held Wednesday, December 30th at Comi Funeral Home at 10 a.m. with internment to follow at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Comi Funeral Home of Trinidad.
