Fred Sisneros, age 83 of Cimarron, NM passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the Spanish Peaks Veterans Community Long-term Care facility in Walsenburg, Colorado.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents Joe Sisneros of Springer and Cornelia Sisneros of Cimarron, his sister Josephine Duran of Springer, most recently brother Rudy Sisneros of Grand Junction, Colorado, his nephews Aaron Kenney, Angel Fire and Pat Sisneros, Selma, Ca., and many other family members of the area.
Fred was well known to the Colfax County community. He attended school in Springer, NM and joined the Air Force at the young age of 17. He spent a few years in California and returned to Springer to become a cowboy. He worked for the LeDoux’s in Springer, the WS Vermejo for Judd Knight, the Philmont Scout Ranch with Bob Knox and became the ranch manager for the Grunerwald Ranch in Wagon Mound.
Fred then spent a few years driving heavy equipment back in California and returned to New Mexico, but then became a truck driver for C. R. England and Swift. He had been retired for 8 years, living in Cimarron enjoying his sisters, Rachel Ricklefs, Penny Coppedge, Bernadette Martinez and their husbands and many nieces and nephews of the area as well as many other family members and friends whom he treasured.
Fred loved cowboying and ranching. He did some roping in his day. His travels took him all over the United States, but his heart never left Colfax County. He will be missed by the large family he helped raise and the many friends and acquaintance he made along the way.
Fred’s services will be in Springer, NM at a later date.
