In Loving Memory of Art Claycomb

Art Claycomb, age 83, died on Thursday, October 29, 2020, in Clayton, New Mexico.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the Clayton Gospel Church with Pastor Mike Phipps, officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Art Claycomb was born on October 31, 1936, in Imler, Pennsylvania to Arthur and Alverta Claycomb and grew up in Pennsylvania. Art joined the US Air Force on August 2, 1954, and served in the Korean War from February of 1956 until February of 1957 and received his discharge on August 1, 1958, while stationed in Amarillo, Texas. While living in Amarillo, Art met April Lockhart and they were married in Clayton, New Mexico on April 1, 1958. He drove a truck in Amarillo for a little while then moved to Clayton where he worked for South West Electric Coop for a few years. He later started his own electrical business out of a shed in his backyard and then opened Claycomb Electric and Construction in 1970. Art was preceded in death by his wife April on June 12, 2001, his parents, mother-in-law, Zelma Leona Lockhart, 3 sisters; Anna, Francis, and Pearl, 4 brothers; Ernest, Vernon, Donald and Wayne, a grandson-in-law; Stephen Thompson and a grandson; Seth Claycomb on September 5, 2020.

SURVIVORS:

1 DAUGHTER: Deanna Arrington and her husband Jack of Pueblo, Colorado.

3 SONS: Danny Claycomb and his wife Becky, Darrin Claycomb, and Doug Claycomb all of Clayton, New Mexico.

8 GRANDCHILDREN: Shanell Thompson, Vanessa Knapp, August Claycomb, Shelbie Aragon, Dannie Claycomb, Aspen Claycomb, Ryan Claycomb, and Matthew Claycomb.

5 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN

3 SISTERS: Wanda Burk, Betty Eicher, and Phyllis Cuppett all of Pennsylvania.

1 BROTHER: Barry Claycomb of Pennsylvania.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Art’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
