In Loving Memory of Travis William Valdez

On Sunday, October 4th, 2020, Travis William Valdez, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away at the age of 45.

Travis was born on May 27, 1975, in Clayton, NM to Felix and Nancy Valdez. Travis grew up in Raton with his 2 older siblings, Floyd and Denise, and his younger sibling Marlene. On June 1st, 1996 Travis married his high school love, Michelle Sandoval. Together they raised 3 children, Derrick, Jordan, and McKenna.

Travis was a hardworking man who took great pride in his kids and grandkids. He had a great love for the outdoors spending those moments camping, fishing, and hunting. In his younger years, he spent his weekends traveling with his family from town to town playing softball with some of his closest friends. Travis was not one to stay home and be idle, he was either working on his yard or out shining up his car. He was a family man who loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was not only a father to his own kids but to their friends as well. He was his kids’ biggest fan, whether it be coaching them or just never missing a game. Everyone who knows him knows that he was always joking around and was a “Snapchat superstar”, always posting silly pictures.

Travis was preceded in death by his father, Felix Valdez, his mother, Nancy Valdez, grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Travis is survived by his wife, Michelle, his children, Derrick Valdez and wife Christina, Jordan Valdez, and fiancé Davin Ada, and Mckenna Valdez. His pride and joy, his grandchildren, Daesyn, and Phoenyx. His brother Floyd Valdez of Pueblo CO, and sisters Denise and Marlene of Raton. His in-laws, David, and Yvonne Sandoval. Sister-in-law Melinda Baca and husband Dwayne of Frederick, Maryland, brother-in-law Jason Sandoval and wife Jennifer of Rio Rancho. Nephews Jarred, Justin, Matthew, Mateo, and Kyler and nieces Arianna, Dulce, and Jayla. Also survived by his life-long best friend and partner in crime, Ed Romero, and many friends and family too numerous to name but not forgotten.

Rosary and Funeral Mass for Travis William Valdez will be held on Friday, October 9th, 2020 at 10:00 am at St Patrick/St. Joseph Catholic Church, 104 Buena Vista St. Burial to follow at Mt. Calvary cemetery. Dinner for the family and friends will be held at the home of David & Yvonne Sandoval, 80 Meadowlark Dr., immediately following the burial.
