James “Eddie” Martinez age 87 of Raton, NM, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020, in Raton. He was born April 16, 1933, in Raton, NM, the son of William and Florence Martinez. Eddie was a veteran of the United States Navy was a retired inspector for the Department of Transportation, a member of St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the V.F.W and loved playing pool with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Margie, son James E., daughter Carmen Galvin, grandsons Daniel Martinez, Casey Martinez, and Justin Luksich, sisters Betty Valverde, brothers Robert Martinez, Donald Martinez, and great-granddaughter Domenique Bacon.
Eddie is survived by five daughters, Novella Hernandez of Las Cruces, NM, Jo-Ann Roman and husband Thomas, Edna Sandoval, and husband Roger Jr., Angel Luksich, and husband Ray Jr., And Betty Navarez and companion James Vigil all of Raton. One son Sam Martinez of Raton. Brother, Bill Martinez and wife Tina of Raton., Sisters, Helen Jamison of Santa Teresa, NM., Paula Montoya of Lubbock, TX., and Diane Earle and husband Eddie of Denver, CO. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 15, 2020, from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home Chapel.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at 1:00 P.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home Chapel recited by Frank Cimino Jr. Funeral service will follow at 1:30 in the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Nathan Ramirez. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Raton.
