In Loving Memory of Shirley Marie Sutton Moore

On July 17, 2020 Shirley passed at her youngest daughter’s home in Colorado. She was recently diagnosed with metastasized pancreatic cancer. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Darield Melvin Sutton & Helen Esther Ellis Sutton, her sisters Kathryn Sutton McIver and Linda Sutton Base, her husband “Wild” Bill Moore and son Bill Moore, II. Surviving are her daughters Melodie (David) Anderson and Shannon Oakley, grandchildren: Aaron (Amanda) Snyder, Kinsey (Chrys) Moore, Zack (Rachel) Moore, Ariel Smith, Mishelle Oakley, Elizabeth Oakley & Kate Oakley. Also surviving are numerous great grandchildren, nieces & nephews, cousins, brother-in-law’s & sister-in-law’s and dear friends.

Shirley was born on a farm southeast of Gypsum, Kansas in the 1936. She met her future husband, married in 1958 and had three children. Being a military family, they moved from Kansas to Texas, California, Alaska, Colorado, Florida and retired in Kentucky near his brother and sister’s family in 1975. They had sixty-five acres and loved having a vegetable garden, farm animals, bees, fruit trees and a greenhouse. Their three children graduated from the nearby university and married before Shirley and Bill moved to their home in Capulin, New Mexico. They enjoyed fishing, camping, raising a garden, their greenhouse, having friends and family visit and living in the “West”. Her husband Bill would grow whatever she wanted. Shirley loved feeding the birds and hummingbirds, growing her flowers and roses. She also was a great seamstress, making many outfits for her grandchildren as well as quilts and teddy bears, raggedy Ann’s and their outfits. After Bill passed, she stayed the summers at their home and then visited during the winters with her youngest daughter and family in Colorado, taking time to visit her other daughter and family in Kentucky and late son and his family in Alabama for Christmas and New Year’s. She was always there for her family and friends, always remembering their birthdays and anniversary’s. She is now in the arms of Jesus Christ and will be so very greatly missed.
