In Loving Memory of Arthur Frank Martinez Jr.

Arthur Frank Martinez Jr. died at the ripe age as he would say of 70 years old.  He resided in Raton, NM.  Arthur departed from this earth, August 18, 2020.  He was born September 9, 1949, to Arthur Frank Martinez Sr., and Dora Martinez Trujillo.  He was the oldest of four siblings which included Michael Martinez of Albuquerque NM, Sheila Tafoya, and Joseph Martinez both of Raton, NM.

Arthur said that the best time to be in California was the 60’s, which he ventured with his first wife Patsy Guzman.

On July 3, 1984, he went on and married Margaret Martinez who stayed by his side for 36 years.  She would call him her partner.  He loved taking her everywhere, yard sales, thrift stores, and anywhere she needed to go.  Through sickness and in health they were there for each other a one of a kind love.  Best friends, morning coffee and movie marathons, the simplest things but everything to one another, He loved her so deeply, an inseparable pair.

Arthur was proud to say he was a jack of all trades, a master of none.  He spent most of his years at United Chevy.  He enjoyed the friends, memories, and jokes he gained there.  He loved to dance read and giving people a hard time.  He loved to build, paint and he had a way of making something that had been disregarded and tossed aside into something beautiful,  He was fascinated with all things unusual, murder mysteries, sci-fi, ghosts, and a firm believer of miracles.

If you knew Arthur, he left you with a smile, a ghost story, and one heck of an impression.  Arthur loved how large his family had gotten.  His children include Michelle Martinez/Velasquez of Oklahoma City, OK., April Martinez and fiancé Jordan Sanchez of Raton, NM., Arthur Frank Martinez III,  and partner Casey Grubelnik of Raton, NM., Anthony Ray Martinez and wife Claribel Martinez of Titusville, Florida, JohnPaul Martinez of Pueblo, CO., and Beatrice Cruz of Killeen, TX.

His great-grandchildren are Viktorious, Uriahn, Jessalynn Velasquez of Oklahoma City, OK., Luke Cruz of Temple, TX.

Arthur enjoyed his extended family, his sisters-in-law Judy Ortiz and Elena Ortiz/Chavez.  He had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, he loved the company of his friends.

When asked if there were any words he wanted to leave his children/grandchildren he said this “I love you all, take care, be careful, always be good, that’s all I could say, stay out of trouble, work hard and say your prayers”.

Arthur may be gone but his imprint will always be in our hearts, he was truly one of a kind.
