As with all other county fairs, Colfax County suspended activities for what would have been the 76th Annual Fair this year. However, when the board made the announcement, they also made a commitment that there would be a some sort of a livestock auction for the young people in the county whose 4H and FFA projects continued through the pandemic.
The Colfax County Fair Board was unsure just what would happen at the 2020 version of the Jr Livestock Auction, but were very much pleased as the gavel came down at the Miller-Lark Pavilion on Saturday, August 8 with a total of $276,500 committed from area businesses, ranches and individuals.
Breylin Rubio raised the Grand Champion Steer and earned $8,500 in scholarship money as he will take the steer to either the NM State Fair or Eastern NM Fair, later this summer. The UU Bar Ranch bid $8,000 with Vermejo Park Ranch kicking in another $500.
