Gate City Music Festival Cancelled for 2020

Raton MainStreet’s Gate City Music Festival Committee is announcing that due to the circumstances relating to the COVID-19 Pandemic the difficult decision has been made to cancel the 6th Annual Gate City Music Festival scheduled for September 5 & 6, 2020.

This is not a decision that was made in haste. Above all, the health and safety of our community, staff, and volunteers is our number one priority. There were a number of factors that went into this decision.

1. On July 1, 2020, the New Mexico Governor’s executive order halted the planned Phase II reopening of the state and we have no forecast of when this might change.
2. The Governor’s executive order further mandates that mass gatherings are prohibited.
3. Theaters remain closed at this time, therefore having the headliner show is strictly prohibited.
4. Additionally, the modified executive order includes a mandate that travelers coming into or returning to New Mexico are required to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days.

The committee works very hard to plan and bring you this festival every year. The current restrictive mandates make it impossible to host a multi-day event.

However, we have wonderful plans in the works for the 2021 Gate City Music Festival and are pleased to announce that the Bellamy Brothers have agreed to be the 2021 Headliner along with all of the other entertainers that we had lined up for this year. We plan to make the 2021 Gate City Music Festival the biggest and best festival yet. We look forward to next year’s festival and in the meantime, wish you all health and safety!
